IMPORTANT NOTE: Please download 'Maps n Trax' instead of 'Bit Map'. Bit Map is being maintined for existing users for now and may be removed from the App Store at some time in the future. Maps n Trax has the features of Bit Map plus more.Bit Map is an offline map viewer for your own topographic or specialised maps in a variety of image formats including PNG and JPEG. It can also view maps in the SOME OZF2 and OZFX3 files (older formats only). Store multiple maps on your iPhone or iPad, and switch between them. With Bit Map, you can view your own choice of maps, instead of generic maps chosen by somebody else, making it ideal for specialist maps with details not available on other mapping applications, such as highly detailed topographic maps obtained from your government mapping authority, or your own scanned in paper maps.Your topographic maps can also be viewed while offline with no cellphone or wifi network access, making it ideal for a wide range of outdoor pursuits including bushwalking, hiking, treking, camping, cycling, touring.Bit Map can display SOME older OZF2 and OZFX3 map images as well as many common bitmapped (raster) image file formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF or GIFF. It can display large maps, and can even join several consecutive large maps into a single huge topographic map. The map size is limited only by the iOS device's storage and memory capacity. Some basic navigation features are also included, such as dynamically showing your current location on the map as well as recording and display of waypoints and routes. Waypoints and routes can be imported and exported as KML files which can be used in some desktop applications.WARNING: No maps are included with Bit Map, so you will need to provide your own maps. You will also need to understand how to prepare your map images for use with Bit Map. Read the Bit Map Files Acquisition Guide (linked to from the Bit Map home page) to understand how to prepare map image files for Bit Map before purchasing.NB: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Some ozf2/ozfx3 files are not supported (in particular the newer formats). Contact support to find out if your images will work or not.Calibration of maps using .map files is not supported.
